Real estate brokers are real estate agents that have decided to prove to their state of licensing that they have the educational “chops” to self-manage (as opposed to reporting to other real estate leadership) and even manage other real estate agents’ careers. Each state may differ on the exact requirements.
Real estate brokers must successfully complete additional courses and testing beyond that of a real estate salesperson to be donned legally with the title of real estate broker. Similarly, you may have worked a job but in order to receive additional leadership responsibilities, you have to take more classes and pass an exam. Therefore, going from a real estate sales agent to a real estate broker is like moving from an accountant to a CPA, a social worker to a LMSW.
