Do I have to inform the mortgage lender if I want to sell my home?

Answer

You don’t have to tell your mortgage provider that you plan to sell, but you do have to settle your outstanding loan when the home is sold. You might want to contact your lender ahead of time to find out the exact amount of your current loan balance.

Prepare paperwork

At the closing, the remaining balance is paid off from the sale proceeds. Your attorney or title company should prepare all the paperwork for you, and you sign off at closing.
